Series Overview

Embedding Race Equity comes as build-up from the initial Masterclass Series – Towards Race Equity: Leading through Engagement which was Part 1 of this Masterclass Series. Embedding Race Equity locates the challenges in the context of individual roles in cultivating equitable practice, setting organisational tone and overseeing outcomes for staff, patients and other stakeholders. As a development from identifying issues, this Masterclass series focuses on organisational theory, implementation, operationalising policy and best practice guidance. This series also builds an understanding of the historical, social, and institutional context surrounding race equity; with a view to ground the discussions in established frameworks that guide race equity work, providing support to apply theoretical concepts to real work scenarios. Each session concludes with individual calls to action as starting points for organisational change.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the series, participants will be able to:

  • To examine how race equity can be embedded in organisational systems in ways that disrupt injustices and promote sustainable change.
  • To engage participants in an understanding of Tone Setting: Emphasising the importance of open dialogue, vulnerability, confidentiality, safe space and respect for diverse perspectives to enable collective learning.
  • To engage in deep, reflective and courageous conversations about how race equity intersects with personal and professional contexts.
  • To introduce theoretical frameworks that allow for objective evaluations of presenting situations to guide constructive solutions.
