Series Overview

This series is designed to shape ways of thinking rather than offer instruction or prescribe a way of approaching situations. The key thread underpinning the series is the concept of positive engagement. The series aims to enable you to explore race interactions in the context of managing inclusively.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the series, participants will be able to:

  • To examine the role of middle managers in supporting and managing colleagues from different cultural/racial backgrounds
  • To create a space to reflect on working, leading and managing from different perspectives.
  • To collaboratively explore ways in which middle managers can work towards race equity in their leadership practice.
  • To develop skills in facilitating a range of interactions which enable individuals to exercise autonomy and challenge discrimination.

For rich conversations and to allow for diverse perspectives, a minimum of 10 participants is recommended for the course. A maximum of 20 participants to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.

Short lecture style facilitation for overview and introduction, Interactive Group activities, case studies, question and answer session

Participants are encouraged to bring examples of challenging situations they would like support with or to reflect on with others. Participants are reminded to maintain confidentiality when sharing information.

Masterclass Series Handbook with session overviews, learning outcomes and reading lists for further personal development.

The content will be the same across both platforms, however the online sessions would be spread over a longer period of time with each session being of shorter duration (2 hours) on account of screen fatigue and the limitations of online learning.

For in-person sessions, individual session 1 & 2 (Shaping Engagement & Fostering Belonging) will be delivered on the same day over (4 hours) separated by a lunch break.
